Hi, my name is Mary and I am 60 years old and some days feel 160. I am a type 2 diabetic and have been for about 10 years. I am one of those that forgot to stop eating so have to fight the battle of the bulge and the numbers. I have been really pretty good about numbers and over the last few years have lost about 100 pounds, but still have more to go. Doing it the hard way, just eating right. I got off my way of eating in the past year or so because we sold our house in El Paso, TX after living there for 32 years and moved to Lawton, OK where my husband's job moved. Lots of months going back and forth and living out of motels and eating in resturants and just let my guard down. We have been here since Jan and all of a sudden in May I started having eye problems. My numbers were still decent, under 6% so was really surprised. I guess what I had was a bleeder but the eye doctor said it would go away. Of course it did, so now I have a dark round spot and will get it checked out on the 8th. If anyone has any suggestions, I sure will take them. I am back on the losing track too. Lost 25 pounds since the end of May and my a1c was 5.7. I am not happy with it, even tho it is a good number because I am not eating much in the way of carbs or my number do go up. My new doctor said I should try the South Beach diet and for me it is working. Just needed something to click again and get me started and guess that worked. Glad to be in the group and hope to read blogs and such of others.
