My name is Christopher and i have been a diabetic ever since I was 7 years old (I am 31 now). I got diabetes from contracting the chicken pox and it attacked my pancreas. Through the next 23 years, I have had huge issues with drastic ups and downs in my blood sugar. There were many times I would wake up in the middle of the night in cold sweats, there were times someone would have to call the paramedics to get me out of an unresponsive state. Doctors tried readjusting my insulin, they tried different kinds of insulin and for 23 years nothing seemed to work.
In October of 2010 I became a Nazarene believer in Yeshua (Jesus) and started keeping Torah, I was a Christian before that and thought I could eat anything that is within my diabetic guidelines to eat, pork, shrimp, shellfish etc. And I loved pork, I used to wake up in the morning and have a sausage biscuit, I would make spaghetti sauce with tons of pork in it, my favorite food was bacon. But after a month I said, "Ok I got to get serious now". And I gave up unkosher foods.
I started to realize months later, that I was having no problems with my blood sugar, no spikes, and no dips. I was going to bed almost a year ago, and becoming a new believer in Torah I was listening to some Hebrew Roots podcasts. And everyone was telling me about this former baseball player for the NY Yankees by the name of Rico Cortes, whom is a Hebrew Roots teacher, and so I listened to him talk about the Threshold covenant as I was going to bed. After discussing that, he then started talking about the science behind Kosher foods. It is about midway through the video below, and the science just blew me away, so watch the video fast forward past the threshold covenant if you wish. .
Now Rico and I have become good friends over the past few months. And since that time and with the help of my friend Paul Nison who's main focus is kosher health. I have learned a great deal of the science behind unkosher foods, and how they are one of the main reasons many of us have issues with our blood sugar levels and could also be one of the reasons we have contracted diabetes. For instance did you know that unkosher foods carry worms and 1 in 4 Americans have worms and do not even know it? Did you know worms are parasites. Do you wonder why people in impoverished countries, or even during bad economic times (such as here right now) people seem to be sick more often, and there is an increase in things like Crones disease, Cancer, and Diabetes? It is because pork is cheap, and if you look at the sales of pork in relation to kosher meats like beef or poultry to pork products per economic quarter during bad economic times you will see pork sales are much higher.
Now here is a video showing the deadly health effects of pork.
Now this is just not pork, but also ALL unkosher foods cause they have the same genetic makeup and they contract the worms the same way, through eating their own waste. There are also many other factors. But I can attest to this. Science has shown time and time again that it is at times unhealthy lifestyles contribute to our health issues. As far as my pork addiction, I have been able to find some great alternatives that are kosher and in all honesty I have found actually taste much better than the pork products I was accustomed to. If you like sausage dogs, the Johnsonville Beef Hot Links are amazing, the Oscar Myer Turkey bacon is really good, throw some salt on it when you throw it in the skillet and it is great stuff (I have tried the beef bacon and my issue with that is it seemed rather tough) There are also turkey pepperonis out there that taste just like the pork.
Take my advice for a week, to test it out, if you are having issues with your blood sugar, get rid of the stuff the Creator said is not food. These things serve a purpose but it is not for food, and I promise you, you will see results and in the case of type 2 diabetes I would dare say with kosher eating and maybe a little bit of a raw food diet (I would not suggest the raw food diet for someone with Type 1 Diabetes) you may even be able to reverse your type 2 diabetes. Shalom Alechem
