I was sent this email earlier today. If you are in America please sign this petition, it affects healthcare reform and everyone with diabetes.
Health care reform is about stopping diabetes.
Thousands of people with diabetes will cut back on or even go without doctor visits, insulin, medicines and test strips because their health insurance is either too expensive or non-existent.
That’s why I’m inviting you to join us in telling Congress
that people with diabetes need better access to affordable and adequate health care.
Thousands won’t receive preventive care until it’s too late. We have a system that will pay to treat a heart attack or an amputation caused by high blood glucose levels, but will not pay for test strips, education, and foot care to manage diabetes and avoid those complications. This is a crisis we need to stop.
Every day in America:
• 230 people with diabetes will undergo an amputation
• 120 people enter end-stage kidney disease programs
• 55 people go blind from diabetes
We need change — real change — and now!
Health care reform isn’t about politics — it’s about our mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, daughters and sons. Join our fight to make sure that health care reform will help people affected by diabetes.
Join us and help stop this crisis. Sign our petition to Congress.
Invite your friends and family to join us, too.
The opportunity to make major improvements in the lives of people with diabetes is very close, but we’ll need your help to make that future a reality.
Chair, American Diabetes Association
P.S. Take Action Sign our petition to Congress today!
Please sign the petition to help out those who are suffering from the lack of healthcare and those of us who are paying to much for our diabetes supplies, medications, and other healthcare management.
