I am training for a mini-marathon in May. I am up to a 40 minute run/walk, alternating 5 minutes each. I can usually finish 3-4 miles in that timeframe. I have never been a runner but I have to say I am feeling good about my progress!

I'm taking my dad to watch the football. Nothing special really but I know he really enjoys the banter and the company. I hope I'm as spritely as him when I'm 75. I'm lucky that my did is still around and hopefully will be for many years to come.

Can't resist a challenge and I've signed up for the Manchester Fun Run in May (see events) I have never been a runner either so it will be interesting to see how I progress.

I went to my Slimming World class on Tuesday, and for the first time in 5 months put on half a pound. I know it is not much, but it has motivated me to "do better" this week. I am SO SO determinded to loose 3.5 pound this week, to get my 3 STONE award. I am pround to say, I have been VERY good all this week and hope that on Tuesday of next week, my efforts will not have been in vain!. Members, When I reach my weight goal, I will post a photo , but until then, I will assume the psuedo name of "nigella".
I have to say too, that not just this week but EVERY week, I am ultimately pround of my huband and beautiful daughter .

Hi

I have had so many discouraging reports from doctors since I was diagnosed in Oct. 2008. My doctor sent me to yet another specialist to get my eyes checked and actually got a good report! He found no damage to my eyes from the diabetes, no diabetic retinopathy! I was so happy!

Well, I had to go to another specialist who diagnosed large fibroid tumors in my uterus, which were causing excessive bleeding, so I am scheduled for a hysterectomy on March 30.

Interestingly enough, my regular doctor had prescribed Lyrica for the diabetic neuropathy pain in my feet. He had gradually increased the Lyrica from 75mg twice a day to 300 mg per day (100 mg, 3 times daily). Within a coupleof days of starting the 300 mg per day dosage, the bleeding had started, slowly at first until it was pretty much out of control. I got to thinking about it, stopped taking the Lyrica and within a few days the bleeding began to slow and now is almost stopped. I reported this to him and while he had never heard of such a reaction, he agreed that it must have been an adverse reaction. The pain is back but I'm feeling stronger each day.
